The Metallic Green Star Polyps are also referred to as Starburst Polyps. They are a peaceful, fast growing encrusting coral that are easy to maintain, making them an excellent candidate for the beginning through expert reef aquarist. These frags are super bright and add movement to your tank as the currents blow across these grass like colonies.
The Coral Farm frags are mounted to a fired ceramic plug or piece of rubble rock that can be mounted to your live rock with super glue gel or epoxy. |

Green Star Polyps are popular among reef aquarists their attractive appearance and easy care requirements. They can be kept in aquariums with a minimum size of around 5 gallons and require moderate water flow and good lighting. Higher par lighting will brighten their colors but lower lighting will cause them to expand their polyps to large sizes which is also very interesting. Many reefers recommend placing them on a rock island surrounded by sand so if they grow fast for you they can be contained to one rock. It's also popular to glue a frag of Star Polyps to the back glass wall of the tank because it looks amazing when it covers the whole wall in neon green flowing grass-like polyps.
The Green Star polyp is a hardy coral that is tolerant of a wide range of water conditions but it does best when the pH level is between 8-8.4, the temperature is between 75 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit, and the specific gravity is between 1.023 and 1.026. It will not tolerate high levels of nitrates or phosphates so regular water changes may be necessary to keep these nutrients at bay. Keeping your alkalinity stable will ensure continued growth.
This coral can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Sexual reproduction occurs after the polyps release sperm and eggs into the water. The fertilized egg then settles on a solid surface where it develops into new coral colonies called planulae after several days. Asexual reproduction occurs when small pieces of the coral break off due to strong currents or physical damage, which develop into separate colonies.
