The Maxi-Mini Carpet Anemone is a stunning addition to any reef aquarium. These anemones are known for their vibrant coloration, ranging from bright green to deep purple, and their unique "carpet" shape. They are commonly found in the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia and Australia.
As their name suggests, Maxi-Mini Carpet Anemones are relatively small compared to other anemone species, typically growing to a size of around 6 inches in diameter. Their tentacles have a strong grasp capable of consuming smaller delicate fish and invertebrates.
In captivity, Maxi-Mini Carpet Anemones require specific water parameters to thrive. They need a stable temperature, salinity, and pH level, as well as high levels of lighting to maintain their vibrant coloration. Additionally, they require a regular supply of small meaty foods, such as small pieces of shrimp or fish.
One of the most interesting features of the Maxi-Mini Carpet Anemone is its ability to host a variety of clownfish species. In the wild, these anemones form a symbiotic relationship with clownfish, offering them protection in exchange for food and nutrients. In captivity, Maxi-Mini Carpet Anemones are known to host clownfish species such as the Percula, Ocellaris, and Maroon Clownfish.
Mini Carpets are easy to care for and do well in a variety of tank conditions. Their stunning coloration and unique characteristics make these anemones can make a striking and rewarding addition to any reef aquarium.
